How much does a law firm website cost?

Quotes for a law firm website run from a few hundred to many thousands. Most of that gap comes from a few choices you can make yourself. Here's what they are, and what my own fixed prices get you.

What decides the price

  • Pages. A small firm can start with one clear page: practice areas, how you charge, how to reach you. Bigger firms add a page per practice area, the team and costs.
  • Languages. If you work for international clients, a second language almost doubles the text.
  • Who writes the texts. Writing about legal work in plain words takes time. Check whether base texts are included, and plan time to check them yourself.
  • Extras. A blog, a client portal or document upload are separate projects with their own costs. A first-contact form is not.

Monthly cost: keeping it online

Hosting, an SSL certificate, backups and someone who notices when the site is down. Then the small changes: a new associate, a new fee, a holiday notice. Ask what those cost before you sign.

Costs people forget

  • The domain name, registered in the firm's own name.
  • Your own time to check every text. Nobody else can sign off on what the site says about your services.
  • Photos of your own office and team, instead of stock photos of gavels and handshakes.
  • A secure way to receive documents. A website form is the wrong place for case files.

What you should get for the money

  • Practice areas in plain words: what you do and who you do it for.
  • How you charge, and fixed prices where you have them.
  • If you take legal aid cases, a short explanation and a link to the official legal aid information.
  • A clear route for people with an urgent deadline, with your number one tap away.
  • The office details you're required to show, in a place people can find them.
  • No promises about outcomes, no trackers you don't need, and a form that asks people not to send documents.

This guide is about building a website. It isn't legal or compliance advice. Check the rules that apply to your firm with your bar association.

How much does a small law firm website cost?

With me, a one-page site is $80, a 3-page site in two languages is $125 and up to 5 pages is $165. Hosting is $25 or $49 a month, and the domain is extra.

Do you write the legal texts?

I write clear base texts from your answers, but I'm not a lawyer. You check and approve every text before it goes live, and you stay responsible for what the site says.

What does a law firm site have to show?

That depends on the rules of your bar and your country, and you know those best. I make room for what you need to show, such as your registration, insurance and complaints procedure.

How long does it take to build?

A working preview in 2 days for one page, 3 days for 3 pages and 5 days for up to 5 pages, once I have your answers and photos.
