Pricing guide

How much does a vet clinic website cost?

A vet website has a build price and a monthly price, and the second one is easy to forget when you compare quotes. Here's what drives both, what a clinic site should cover, and my own prices as a reference.

One-off cost: building the site

The build price mostly depends on four things.

  • Pages. A small clinic can do well with one page: hours, emergencies, the animals you treat, booking and contact. Bigger clinics add pages for vaccinations, emergencies or each location.
  • Languages. A second language almost doubles the text. In many Dutch towns it's worth it, because plenty of pet owners read English more easily.
  • Texts and photos. If you supply both, the build is quicker. If the builder writes base texts from a questionnaire, that's part of the price.
  • Booking. Linking to the online calendar you already use is simple. A full embed depends on the system.

Monthly cost: keeping it online

After launch the site needs hosting, an SSL certificate, backups and someone who notices when it's down. Then there are the changes: holiday hours, a new vet, a note about a vaccine shortage. Ask who does those and what it costs before you pick a builder.

Costs people forget

  • The domain name. Register it in your own name so it stays yours.
  • The subscription for your booking or practice software, if you link to it.
  • Photos. Your own clinic and team look more trustworthy than stock photos of a vet you've never met.
  • Time to check the texts. Emergency and vaccination info has to be right, and only you can confirm that.

What you should get for the money

  • Opening hours that are easy to read, with an open or closed status.
  • What counts as an emergency, your daytime number, and who to call at night.
  • The animals you treat, and what you refer elsewhere.
  • Vaccination schedules in plain words, with a link to the official rules for travel.
  • Book and call buttons that stay in view on a phone.
  • No trackers or cookie banners you don't need.

Hosting and maintenance is optional: $25 a month for hosting, SSL, backups and an uptime check, or $49 a month with up to 1 hour of text and photo updates each month. Extra page $15, extra language $25. Prices in USD.

Delivery days start when the questionnaire, texts or notes and photos are complete. Going live on your domain depends on your DNS access.

The vet website page has the full package list and a fictional demo clinic, Dierenkliniek Otterbeek. The names, place and phone numbers in the demo are made up.

How much does a small vet clinic website cost?

With me, a one-page site is $80, a 3-page site in two languages is $125 and up to 5 pages is $165. Hosting is $25 or $49 a month, and the domain is extra.

What are the monthly costs?

Hosting, SSL, backups and keeping an eye on uptime. I charge $25 a month for that, or $49 a month with up to 1 hour of text and photo updates.

How long does it take to build?

A working preview in 2 days for one page, 3 days for 3 pages and 5 days for up to 5 pages, once I have your answers and photos.

Can I show my prices on the site?

Yes, if you want to. A price list for a consult, vaccinations or neutering is easy to add and to keep up to date.
